Sunday, September 22nd was one of the "Dirtiest Days in Racing" at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway as the stars of the Global Rallycross Series came out to conquer "The Dirt Beast." Although Scott Speed captured the victory and the coveted gold medal, it was Toomas "Topi" Heikkinen, driver of the OlsbergsMSE Bluebeam Ford Fiesta, who clinched the 2013 championship and left two lucky auction winners feeling like they won the gold themselves.

Speedway Children's Charities held a live auction at the Global Rallycross welcome party at Carolina Ale House which had two bidders, one being Bucky Lasek, in a war for the ride with Heikkinen. In the end, after a second ride was generously donated by Heikkinen, they both agreed to pay the same price and give their loved ones the ride of a lifetime. Coincidently enough both finished their birthday shopping at that point too!

When the time came for the rides on Sunday there was plenty of excitement in the air. Heikkinen gave our guests amazing rides around the turns and jumps of the course, and ended each ride with a burnout. Both got out of the car with smiles from ear-to-ear and adrenaline pumping like crazy!

Speedway Children's Charities would like to congratulate Topi and his team on clinching the championship. Many thanks to everyone who helped us make this a memorable experience; our guests had the time of their lives!
