Although, there is no snow on the ground, Speedway Children’s Charities and the Charlotte Checkers hockey team had a fun evening of winter activity on December 4th at the Coca-Cola Family Ice Rink located at zMAX Dragway.

Although open to members of the general public, the event was primarily for Speedway Children’s Charities grant recipients. Four local organizations brought more than 50 children out for a fun evening of coloring, sliding, and skating with the Checkers.

Charlotte Checkers players, Zach Boychuk, Zac Dalpe, Nicolas Blanchard, and Michal Jordan, all strapped on their skates for the event.

This was a great opportunity for some local children to come out and skate with a few “pros,” and hang out at the beautiful facility put together by Extreme Ice Center.

The Coca-Cola Family Ice rink will be open daily through January 21. Tickets are $12, which includes skate rentals. Guests can also buy a season pass for unlimited skating all winter for just $50.
