The Dale Jr. Foundation to Partner for Track Walk
The Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities (SCC) and The Dale Jr. Foundation will join forces Saturday, Oct. 13, to host a track walk at Charlotte Motor Speedway just hours before the green flag drops for the Bank of America 500.
The Ultimate Fan Track Walk will give fans the unique opportunity to walk the 1.5-mile superspeedway prior to the only Saturday night race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Several NASCAR personalities will participate in the track walk, along with Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to support SCC’s mission of helping children in need.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with The Dale Jr. Foundation for the Ultimate Fan Track Walk,” said Marcus Smith, president of the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. “Both organizations have had the unique opportunity to give hope and support to the children in our community who need it most. We look forward to continuing that mission as fans from all over the world join us in what promises to be our biggest track walk ever.”
In conjunction with the track walk, SCC will launch a social media campaign dubbed “Why We Walk.” Starting on Oct. 1, the campaign will highlight stories of some of the children and charities that have benefitted from the proceeds the track walk has raised over the years. The culmination of the campaign will take place at the Ultimate Fan Track Walk with those stories shown on the world’s largest HDTV.
This is the first year The Dale Jr. Foundation will partner with SCC for the annual walk.
“The Dale Jr. Foundation has always supported the work done by Speedway Children’s Charities and is proud to have been able to work with them for several years,” said Lauren Caldwell, project manager of The Dale Jr. Foundation. “As this is a milestone year for both organizations, (fifth anniversary of The Dale Jr. Foundation and 30th of SCC), we felt this was a great time to come together to support the youth of our community through the Ultimate Fan Track Walk.”
The track walk will start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13. Fans of all ages will be able to register for the walk at JR Motorsports and Charlotte Motor Speedway the entire race week leading up to the Bank of America 500. Registration is $25 in the form of a donation in advance or $35 after Oct. 10. Children 13 and under are free with a registered adult.
