Over $300,000 Raised for Local Children During May Race Events at Charlotte Motor Speedway
The past few weeks have been spent tallying and documenting all of the gracious donations raised by the 31st annual Speedway Children’s Charities Gala, the Text to Give Program, the Coca-Cola Track Walk, Princess 4 a Day, Toy for a Boy, and the Ride of a Lifetime Online Auction.
The Gala went off without a hitch with great attendance, a great program, and competitive live and silent auctions. The Text to Give program, which raised funds by fans through a text messaging program during the May race weeks, was a wonderful success with high participation and many generous donations. The Ride of a Lifetime Online Auction, which gave lucky race fans the opportunity to ride in the parade lap prior to the Coca-Cola 600 through an online auction, was also very fruitful. The Coca-Cola Track Walk gave many participants the opportunity to walk where their favorite drivers compete, and the Princess 4 a Day and Toy for a Boy programs created cherished memories for the young girls and boys in attendance. In total, these fundraising events generated over $300,000 which goes directly back to children in the Charlotte area!
The past few months have shown the gracious nature of donors and volunteers and the benefits they directly give or generate for SCC to help children in need. To continue the effort of helping less fortunate children Speedway Children’s Charities Charlotte Chapter is hosting several events coming up in the fall and winter months. The Speed for Children in Need 5K and a young professionals networking expo are just a few events SCC is hosting in the coming seasons. Keep a lookout for upcoming ways to host your own fundraisers for SCC Charlotte and be sure to stay tuned for more information and other ways you can get involved!
