Give Back While Having Fun by Supporting Speedway Children's Charities During May Race Weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway
The biggest back-to-back weekends in motorsports are drawing near and the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities has plenty of events to provide extra fun May 20-29 during the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race and Coca-Cola 600 race weeks at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Miss Motor Speedway Organization will bring their Princess “4” a Day and Toys “4” a Boy Programs to the Powerade Play Zone Coca-Cola 600 weekend, May 28-29. For a small donation, girls can “get their glamour on” with a princess makeover including make-up, hair and nails, along with a “glamour shot” photo, gift bag and a Miss Motor Speedway autograph card. Boys will receive a toy car. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities.
Race fans may donate to Speedway Children’s Charities through Speedway Children’s Charities Text to Give Program. Text “HUGS” to 20222 on any cell phone starting May 21, the day of the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, and $10 will automatically be donated to Speedway Children’s Charities. A confirmation text will be sent to the cell phone and fans can confirm the donation by replying “yes.”
Speedway Children’s Charities will provide lucky race fans with the opportunity to ride in the parade lap prior to the Coca-Cola 600 on May 29 through an online auction. The fans with the winning bid will take a parade lap around Charlotte Motor Speedway with their favorite NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and help support children in the Charlotte region. Now through May 22, fans can visit www.sccrideofalifetime.com to bid on this once in a lifetime experience.
The 31st Annual AutoTrader.com Speedway Children’s Charities Gala presented by Bank of America will be held for the first time at The Ritz Carlton in uptown Charlotte on May 25. This year’s event will honor O. Bruton Smith, chairman of the board for Speedway Motorsports, Inc., who founded Speedway Children’s Charities in 1982. All proceeds from the evening will benefit the grant program of the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children’s Charities. Gala festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception which will include a silent auction, a photo booth by ShutterBooth and live music.
