Maureen MacDonald of Raleigh NC won the Mrs. America 2009 competition and is putting that title to use in helping a local charity. Mrs. MacDonald was given exclusive access by Speedway Children's Charities and attended the NASCAR Bank of America 500 drivers meeting on October 10th 2008 where she had 42 of the 43 drivers sign a racing helmet which will be auctioned off on November 30, 2008. Some of the famous drivers who signed the helmet were Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon. BACKGROUND
MacDonald is a stunning 5'10" blonde beauty with beautiful blue eyes. She is a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette, Actress and Model. MacDonald is most proud to be a wife (to Mark) and mother of two young daughters (Valerie and Vanessa). "Maureen competed against 50 other beautiful women from across the United States and was graceful, calm and elegant in the competitions of interview, swimsuit, evening gown and on stage questioning" according to Fred Galle Executive Director for Mrs. North Carolina America. "She is really an inspiring woman and she is a fantastic role model for married women across the United States. She works tirelessly as the state spokesperson for Prevent Child Abuse" according to Mr. Galle. MacDonald won the Mrs. North Carolina America crown on April 19th 2008 at the J.E. Broyhill Center in Lenoir NC. MacDonald's next stop is the Mrs. World Pageant in Vietnam in November 2009. "MacDonald is an Asheville, NC native and graduated from Jordan Reynolds High School 1998 and Florida State University in 2001. She will travel all across America promoting and empowering women" states Mr. Galle.

MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA PAGEANT is the official preliminary to the MRS. AMERICA Pageant. Contestants compete in Evening Gown, swimsuit, interview, state costume and onstage questions.

The 34th annual MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA pageant in 2009 will be an extravaganza that salutes the most extraordinary and accomplished married women in North Carolina. This renowned state competition is devoted to emphasizing that North Carolina's married women are beautiful, poised and versatile. "Most of the contestants ages are in their 20's, 30's and 40's, you must be 18 years of age and married to compete" says Wendy Galle an Executive Director for MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA.

The winner of the MRS. AMERICA crown will travel across the country making personal appearances during her year's reign. MRS. AMERICA will also represent the U.S. in the MRS. WORLD Pageant in 2009. Prize packages have been estimated to be worth $10,000 for the state and $100,000 including a car for the national title based on previous year's awards.
