BACKGROUND: The NASCAR Foundation Track Walks Presented by "Officially Licensed NASCAR Race Track Pasta & Cheese" are designed to give NASCAR fans the chance to walk around a track and experience the race track from a different perspective. Events coincide with NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event dates so that both local community members and race fans can participate. The NASCAR Foundation serves as an umbrella organization that represents more than thirty drivers, teams and track charities created by members of the NASCAR Family. While these organizations all serve a number of different initiatives - children's causes, animal welfare and rescue, nature conservancy and more - they are all united by the common thread of NASCAR. Last year alone, Speedway Children's Charities distributed more than $700,000 to 66 nonprofits serving children from Charlotte and its surrounding communities.
