CHARLOTTE, North Carolina, June 12, 2008 - Former Charlotte Latin Hawk returns to his home field to host the first annual Chris Canty Camp of Champions. Chris is now the starting Defensive End for the Dallas Cowboys and he's bringing a few of his friends with him. On Friday June 12-14 at Charlotte Latin High School (9502 Providence Rd) Chris will be teaching nearly 200 local boys will learn the fundamentals of football.

Offense, defense and special teams will be taught in addition to life skills such as teamwork, communication, sportsmanship and the importance of education. Proceeds from the camp will go toward the Jeff Gordon's Children's Hospital in Concord and Chris has also sponsored three underprivileged children from Speedway Children's Charities to take part in the camp.

 The camp will be held from 8am-1pm. There are also several autograph signings and a Benefit Party. The schedule of events is as follows:

 As a rookie, Canty was a member of the Cowboys 2005 Rookie Club - a program designed to introduce rookie team members to community service in the Dallas area, which included work with The Salvation Army, Children's Medical Center Dallas and Meals on Wheels. He also participated in the 2006 Stars of Texas - Racing Against the Odds event hosted by local newspaper columnist and radio personality Randy Galloway that raised over $300,000 for the American Diabetes Association.
