Charlotte, NC - (May 1, 2008)- The 28th Annual Speedway Children's Charities Gala will be held on Wednesday, May 21, at Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte. NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards, will be the special guest at the event presented by Aflac, Dish Network, Ford, Office Depot and Vitamin Water. Proceeds from the evening will benefit the grants program of the Charlotte Chapter of Speedway Children's Charities.

ESPN commentator, Marty Smith, will serve as Master of Ceremonies while program speakers are expected to include Humpy Wheeler, president of Lowe's Motor Speedway and gala event chair, and General Thomas Sadler, executive director of Speedway Children's Charities.

Gala festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception sponsored by Stanford Group Company. Throughout the evening, guests may bid on silent auction items sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoopers and purchase keys for $25 each for an opportunity to win prizes including jewelry, designer handbags, VIP tickets, and more in the Key's for the Future sponsored by World Financial Group.

Items featured in the live auction sponsored by PricewaterhouseCoppers, include an autographed Carl Edwards race uniform, a race helmet signed by Ford NASCAR drivers and team owners, Mary Norton designer handbag, jewelry from Diamonds Direct Southpark and other fabulous items.
