Getting a quality education may be the last thing on the mind of a child who lives on the street. That's why Pull-A-Part has donated $3,900 to With Friends, Inc., an organization addressing the educational needs of homeless children.

The donation, made through Speedway Children's Charities' grant program, will benefit the With Friends Bridging the Gap Education Program, which is administered in collaboration with the Gaston County School System. In addition to motivating students to stay in school, the program provides academic testing, literacy and remedial tutoring, and enrichment skills building.

"Pull-A-Part is honored to have the opportunity to provide resources which will support education funding for With Friends, Inc.," said Ross Kogon, Pull-A-Part chief of staff. "We are pleased to be partnering with a great organization like Lowe's Motor Speedway for such a wonderful and worthwhile cause as Speedway Children's Charities."

As a sponsor of the 14th annual Summer Shootout Series, Pull-A-Part donated $75 for every caution flag waved during a Pull-A-Part Legends Car Semi-Pro division A and B features. The total reached $3,900 by the end of the 10-race series which will be donated to With Friends, Inc.

"Speedway Children's Charities is proud to partner with Pull-A-Part and continue our mission to improve the quality of life of children in need," said Amanda Hollingsworth, director of Speedway Children's Charities Charlotte chapter. "We are appreciative of their generous donation which will support the education initiatives of With Friends, Inc."

The only program of its kind in Gaston County, With Friends, Inc. provides on-campus education and support to homeless children. Without the preventative focus of this program, the school drop-out and illiteracy rates in Gaston County would be higher. The Bridging the Gap Education Program enhances the quality of life of each student by addressing issues of school drop out and motivating young people to stay in school and achieve academic success.
