Thursday, December 21, 2006
Dean and Steven Abbey of Abbey Racing from Comanche, Texas, donated their hard-earned purse from the 2006 LMS' Summer Shoot-Out to Speedway Children's Charities. The Abbeys feel strongly about children helping other children, and know the various charities associates with Speedway Children's Charities can make their contribution, combined with others, provide much for many.
Asked why they felt so strongly about Speedway Children's Charities Dean and Steven said, " We have raced in many states which have charities affiliated with Speedway Children's Charities. And, we know first hand how important it is to provide children with educational, medical and social support."
The entire Abbey family: Randy, a veterinarian, Sharon, a pharmacist, Dean, 16, Steven, 14, Jeffrey, 8 and
Westin, 6 support as well as share in each other's interests. In addition to working on their farm, they enjoy school activities, FFA (Future Farmers of America) and racing.
Dr. Abbey introduced Dean and Steven to go-kart racing at ages 7 and 6. Additionally, Dean was diagnosed with severe dyslexia at age 7. With 9 years experience behind them Abbey Racing is now a successful, Legend Pro Division racing team competing in races across America. In September 2006 Jeffrey began racing in the Bandolero division adding a third member to the team.
